I wanted to take a quick minute and wish her a happy mother’s day, a very special day considering the long and bumpy road it has taken to get to this point. Over the past 5 years (since we decided to try and grow a family) I have seen a young woman turn into one heck of a mature mother. I was never really worried that she wouldn’t have the ability and love capacity to take care of a child. My main concern was if she could make up for my serious deficiencies in those departments. In just a few weeks we will have had our sweet Zoey for a year; we travelled to Korea as a scared couple and left as a scared husband and a super-strong wife/mom.
The last twelve months have had their ups and downs with Zoey, saying it has been easy would be a cop-out and only needed if I was writing a fairy-tale novel. Thankfully I had standing next to me the best woman that I could ever hope to help raise my child. She is strong, independent, brave, and every other adjective that I could think of to describe a great mother. Growing up I loved my Mom deeply, she was there for me through everything and supported me through the good and the bad. Even though Zoey has yet to reach age two I see those characteristics in Lauren. She has been a great Mom and will be a great Mom until time ends; some people think there is a difference in the relationship and love between adopted children and biological ones, what Lauren has shown me these past months gives me the right to debate that fact with anyone, anywhere (feel free to send me an e-mail). And husbands out there, if you think life would be somehow easier raising those children (child) without your female counterpart, think again.
Lauren, I love you, we love you, you’re a great Mom and Wife – Eric and Zoey.
