As I am sitting here typing this post we have just returned from a WONDERFUL 5 days vacation at the beach. I just love, love, love being off work and getting to spend time with my family! We are very blessed to get to take this vacation every year with Eric’s family. It is such a fun time getting to visit with everyone…especially since Zoey is so social now!
She had the best time getting to go on morning walks with her grandparents in her pj’s pushing baby on the stroller, going swimming with her cousins who just absolutely doted on her, and getting buried in the sand by her aunts and uncles! You know just an all around absolute fun time a kid could have! It was extra special this year since Eric’s cousin was getting married too. So Zoey got to attend her second wedding and it was a gorgeous wedding on the beach! We were all a bit nervous about Hurricane Isaac ruining the big day so the wedding was moved to Sunday night but it made for a PERFECT day! And I was so honored to be asked to photography their special day too! Here is a slideshow I made for them with their wedding pictures.

22 AugHello…hello! I hope all of you have had a good week. We started ours by attending Zoey new class orientation Thursday after work. I can’t believe it is already time for her to move up classes. With this move in classes this also means she can do extra curricular activities at school like Soccer, Dance, and the Tumble Bus. I was not really planning on doing any but after dragging her off the tumble bus kicking and screaming I guess she likes it! J So it looks like she may be tumbling this year!
After I wrapped up work on Friday Zoey and I went to pick up Kendall and Blake to head down to the lake for girls weekend! Well my dad and paw-paw were there but our boys were not. Kendall and I didn’t get much sleep sharing the bed with a 2-year-old, newborn waking up, and a paw-paw roaming the halls all hours of the night but it was worth it for the fun times we had letting the girls hang out with their family! One of the sweetest moments was when Baby Blake was boo hoo crying while Kendall was getting our bed ready. Z grabbed Blake’s bottle, walked over, and stuck it in Blake’s mouth with no one asking her to do anything! It was too funny!!
On Sunday we went to lunch at Surin then to my brother’s White Coat Ceremony! Like I have said before we are so proud of his hard work and determination over the years to get into medical school. So this was a really big deal for our family to see him get his white coat!! One day Steve will be the best doctor out there… I know that for sure!
Monday was Z’s first day in her new class and like the trooper she is she did AMAZING! Walked in there like she knew exactly what she was doing. I think I took it harder than her! She had a great first day and seems to really love both of her new teachers. I have been trying to make our nights count since it is starting to get darker earlier again so after school we are going on all the walks and nightly swims we can before it starts getting dark at 5:00. I am REALLY dreading the time change so we are going to soak up all this warm weather while we can.
I hope all of you have had a nice week too!
Week in Review: August 9th- 15th, 2012
15 AugWe started off this week with Susan coming over Thursday night after work and school to keep Zoey while Eric had a meeting and I had a baby shower for my good friend Meg. She is expecting her second little boy Charlie so we had a little “Baby Sprinkle” at PF Changs. I had a good time catching up with everyone and getting super stuffed with delicious food. Of course this 4 course meal is not helping me get to my beach body! But it was worth it to celebrate little Charlie!
Friday I ended up having a long day at work and it seemed like Zoey did too because we ended up having to cancel our dinner plans to just chill at the house and go to bed early…like 8:00 early! Saturday morning we woke up early and me and Zoey went on a hike with my dad while Eric worked on a big project for work. We ended up hiking to Peavine Falls at Oak Mountain and it was FLOWING big time due to all the rain we have had this week. It was beautiful and of course Zoey was her typical self wanting to hike the entire time without ANY help!
After her long nap we went over to see her cousin Taylor who broke his arm Thursday. But he was such a trooper adjusting to life only using one arm!
Sunday morning we woke up to some excitement around the neighborhood. It seems like there were some car break-ins and it was like an episode straight off of Cops watching them catch the bad guys down the street!
After the excitement died down Eric and I took Zoey to the Zoo to see the elephants…Have I mentioned how much she LOVES elephants now! They were having a feeding where we got to throw apples into the cage for them to eat. So now she walks around saying “Daddy fed elephant apple!” Yes…my baby girl is talking in sentences!!!
Later that night after her nap we all went to eat dinner with Hannah and her family. We decided to let the girls match and Z thought it was the coolest thing looking like her BFF! Pizza and Popsicles were on the menu so you know no one was complaining!
Monday we were back to work and school but poor Digby had to have surgery to remove a tumor on his belly…I will not got into details because it was super gross! Let’s just say I am glad that thing is gone!
Tuesday after work we met Dana, Patrick, and Dana’s cousin Brittney up at Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Everything was delicious including my Oreo Cheesecake Dana got for me. So now I am NOT looking forward to getting in a bathing suit next week! But it was fun finally letting Zoey meet Brittney!
So that brings us to today…long day at work and long day after work too. I was getting sized for my bridesmaid dress for my sister-in-law’s wedding. As I was paying for the dress Z had the biggest meltdown known to man. So after I paid we had to go out front and sit on the curb until she calmed down. It took 15 minutes but she finally got her act together and went back inside to hug all the cashiers and tell them she was sorry for her scene. I share this story because everything is far from perfect her. I have one VERY strong willed 2 year old and I pray I am doing this parenting thing right! I guess time will tell!
But all in all Zoey had a good week… I hope all of you did too!

8 Aug
This week started out by working pretty late on Thursday but after work we had to take Digby over to my parents. So once I picked the dog and Zoey up I called my sister to see if her and Blake wanted to tag along and they did! We then called our brother and he was able to meet us over there too. So it was a big spur of the moment family party! Honey cooked Zoey chicken and dumplings so she was in HEAVEN. We had the best time hanging out and visiting with everyone. I also loved getting the scope on my brothers new life in medical school while holding baby Blake! What a fun combination! ☺ I planned on heading home to watch gymnastics but both me and Zoey were so tired we both crashed as soon as we got home.
But what a fun weekend we had! We spontaneously decided to head up to Nashville this weekend so Zoey could have quality time with her aunts and great grandparents. So Friday night after work we decided to hit the road. We ended up getting there pretty late but Zoey was a trooper and survived a late dinner at Longhorns with Nana T and Papa T without falling apart. It was such a delicious dinner and Zoey cracked all of us up eating ALL of my salmon! It was so nice of Nana and Papa to take us back to the restaurant that has a good bit of meaning with them. We first went there to celebrate our engagement with them and then went there again to celebrate the announcement of our adoption with them too! After dinner Zoey was SUPER tired so we headed back to their house where all fell asleep pretty quickly.
Saturday we woke up early, ate breakfast with Nana and Papa, and then went to meet Aunt Sandy (who is the director of all nature centers in Nashville) at the Warner Park Nature Center. Zoey had the best time hiking around, meeting the staff, and seeing all the cool things her Sandy has going on. We all had so much fun and felt honored Sandy took time out of her super packed weekend to show us around.
Once we left the nature center we went over to Aunt Beth’s house. She was busy getting ready for a big shower she was hosting that night so it was so nice of her to take time out of her day to hang with us a bit. Because I know how I am when I host parties at my house and letting a 2 year old come over to run around would not be on the top of my list for sure! ☺ We had fun visiting with them for a while but had to leave because Zoey was ready for her nap!
Later that night after all three of us took a nap we went to dinner with Sandy, Bob, Nana, and Papa at The Loveless Café. I was so excited about this since I had never been there before. And it did not disappoint! When we got back to the house Zoey and Nana played together for a couple of hours while Eric helped Papa fix the internet. So it was a nice and relaxing night for me!
After Zoey went to bed Eric and I sat outside under the stars and watched a movie on his iPad. It was a cool night since it had rained earlier during our nap so it was the perfect night to do this!
The next morning we got up and after visiting around the house for a while we said our goodbyes and left to go to The Opryland Hotel. Another good memory happened there…it’s was where we got engaged 7 years ago! Even though it flooded and was remodeled we were still able to find the exact spot where Eric popped the question! ☺ It was funny to think about where our life has taken us since then! Zoey LOVED the hotel and had the best time running around and we even took the boat ride too!
After we left the hotel we went next door so Zoey could eat at The Aquarium restaurant. We had been talking it up all weekend about how we were going to “eat with the fish” she loved it at first but when we were seated next to the sharks she kind of lost it! ☺ She was not wanting to eat with the fish at all. Luckily we had not even ordered our drinks yet so we got out of there and ate at McDonalds instead! ☺ So we ended up getting some good pics and ate for a whole lot less!
Monday unfortunately brought work and school. But at least Zoey was really excited to see her friends!
On Tuesday morning we had another adventure…THE DENTIST!! It was not the best experience in the world. Maybe because it was at 7:00 am? All I know she was NOT happy…but we survived! Tuesday night we went over to my parents house to pick up Digby. Z had a great time playing with her Honey and Grandaddy!
So that brings us to today. This morning we went at 7:00 again for Zoey’s 2 Year Old Check Up. She was right on track with everything. Praise the Lord we have such a healthy little girl! After another long day at work and school we spent tonight playing sidewalk chalk in the driveway. Zoey is REALLY good at knowing her letters! Right now her favorite letter is “U”! Kendall, Tim and Blake stopped by to visit so she had a fun time playing in the driveway with her little cousin! ☺
So another wrap-up to another week. I have to say these week in reviews really makes me realize how fast our life if flying by! I wish it would slow down! My baby girl is growing up too quickly!!!
Week in Review: July 26th- Aug 1st, 2012
1 AugI started out this week by getting my haircut on Thursday night! J I haven’t done anything with my hair since Feb and it was LONG overdue and I was so excited to feel like it has a style again. Zoey had a fun time with Eric while I was gone. It was
This week also started the Olympics and that is a BIG deal around here. Z’s aunt Dana got her a couple of super cute Olympic shirts one being an Olympic Seoul shirt that she so proudly wore to school on Friday. On Friday night we delayed watching the opening ceremony so I could have a girls night with some of my college friends. I honestly think this was one of the first nights I was away from Zoey that was not required by work or a date night for me and Eric. It was really hard to me to actually leave her since I had missed her all day while I was at work but she had another great night with Eric and I had a really fun time with the girls. She thinks she is too cool when he takes her to Starbucks to get her “coffee” like daddy which is a little cup of milk.
On Saturday Eric and I got up early and took Zoey to Oak Mountain State Park for some hiking. Zoey loved running around and she did about 1.5 miles before wanting to get in the stroller…that is another way to score a great nap! J That night we had some people over for our Olympic Party with mini torches, cake and all. Zoey loved the opening ceremonies and was really confused when they played “her swim song” over and over. You can watch that movie here to understand what I mean.
Zoey also thinks she is an Olympic swimmer too. While watching the swimming competition she kept saying “I swim!” We would ask “Do you swim like them?” and she would yell “YES!!”. It was too cute! So on Sunday morning I took her back to the pool for some more swimming. She can now jump off the side, swim to me, and then swim back to the side of the pool and hang on. This was something I really wanted to teach her with her new-found confidence. Just in case she fell into the pool I wanted her to know what to do and how to save herself. So I pray that situation never happens but if it does I hope she remembers.
Sunday for lunch we went to Tanner and Nichole’s new house to celebrate all the July birthdays; Zoey, Bella, Felicia, and Gary. Z of course had a great time playing with all of her cousins! But by the time Sunday afternoon came around she was WORN OUT and both me and her crawled into bed for a nap. We woke up later that night to watch Eric cut the grass while we played in the backyard and then watched more Olympics. Oh Zoey thinks she is a gymnast too!
Monday we were back to work and school but after work it was still so hot outside that I took Zoey down to the pool for an hour or so. She was so tired which made me super excited about her sleeping really good that night. But then a super lightning storm decided to visit us for several hours so my plan backfired for sure! The lightning was so consistent it felt like I was at a rave with strobe lights!
Tuesday Zoey’s Aunt J wanted to pick her up from school so they could have a fun afternoon together. The ended up going to iJump for some fun times in the bouncy house. Zoey had the BEST time and when she got home she thought she was the coolest kid in the world! Once I was home from work they came back to the house and Susan ended up coming to meet up with us to go swimming with Zoey. Z LOVED, LOVED, LOVED showing off all of her swimming skills for everyone. It was too funny!
So that brings us to today. I had to drop Z off at work at 6:15 this morning and didn’t pick her up until around 6:00 so it meant for a super low-key night around here.
But don’t worry all three of us are still sporting our Olympic themed outfits everyday! I am going to try to take a pic of Zoey each day so we can go back and look at them the next time the Olympics roll around.
