Another New Baby

30 Jun

A friend of mine – Jason – who I’ve had the pleasure of working with for a couple years now had his first child yesterday, a little boy named Campbell. It was weird seeing him hold a baby as me and him mainly play video games during our free time and do other things that keep us from having to actually grow up. Still after watching him and his wife interact with their new son I have no doubt that he will make one heck of a dad; I can’t wait til Campbell gets old enough to come up to GameStop and discuss what the new releases are of that week – or decide whether to be an Auburn or an Alabama fan (I have a feeling I’ll lose out on this one)…..congrats Jason and Betsy on your new baby boy!

Dinner with Dana and Brittany

30 Jun

Tonight I was able to go to dinner with Dana and her cousin Brittany who was in town from North Carolina. We had a great time getting to catch up. Too bad there was some crazy drunk Alabama fans that felt the need to yell Roll Tide about every 2 minutes. I mean I could understand if a football game was on but…come on guys it is the middle of summer! Brittany wanted us to yell War Eagle back but since she is not from Alabama she did not understand the repercussion of starting a Roll Tide/War Eagle yelling match with drunk fans. Luckily she did not get anything started and we were able to leave dinner annoyed with those boys but not causing a scene.

Fun Weekend

27 Jun

We had a blast this weekend even though I was recovering from surgery. Since I was on strong meds my finger didn’t hurt too bad so I could actually have a nice time out and about. On Saturday we headed over to Tanner and Nichole’s to watch the USA World Cup Soccer game. Mae Mae was super sweet to me and I had a great time playing with her.

After the game we went over to Gary and Susan’s house for dinner and to celebrate Bella’s and Tanner’s birthday.

On Sunday we headed on down to Julie’s house. It was absolutely beautiful! We had a great time hanging out on her lake and seeing the wonderful place she lives. It was so much fun getting to visit not only with her but with Brad, Agi, and Olivia who just got in town from Budapest.

This Little Pinkey

24 Jun

Well for about two years now my left pinky finger has been bugging me. A dull pain that was not bad enough to go to the doctor but enough to drive Eric crazy with me complaining about it. It always hurt worse when I flew too. So after coming back from Vancouver last month it was hurting real bad on the flight so I made an appointment with the hand doctor that did surgery on Steve’s pinky when he broke it bad playing flag football. To my surprise after an xray and mri type thing he found a tumor! I could not believe it. He suggested taking it out immediately to just make sure it was not a bad tumor or anything. So this past Thursday I had it removed. He explained it like a cavity in your tooth. The bone shell was good but the insides had been eaten away by the tumor. So he went in and basically carved out my knuckle and bone between the knuckle joint and top joint and then re-stuffed it with a bone graft.

I was VERY nervous about the surgery since I had to be put fully under. Thanks to my angels were looking over me and I woke up completely fine. But to my surprise I had a huge cast up to my elbow. I thought I would leave with a bandage over my finger so I was not happy at ALL with this. I have never had a cast before and did not adjust well to not being able to move my wrist and fingers. I have an new sympathy to people in casts.

Luckily I didn’t have to leave it on long. I was able to switch to a little finger brace/cast only a couple of days later! I would put a pic up here of my cut and stitches but don’t want to gross all of you out. If you would have asked me Thursday to Monday how the pain was I would have told you not too bad…but I was taking pain pills every 4 hours on the dot. So when Monday morning came around I did not not take any meds since I would be working. By 1:00 I realized real quick how bad my finger was and had left work in tears. I did not realize how good those pain meds were until then!

Now I am doing a lot better and only having to take over the counter advil or tylenol to make it through the day. I go back to the doctor next week to find out my test results of the tumor. I don’t think it is anything but a little prayer or  two wouldn’t hurt!

Happy Father’s Day

20 Jun

This weekend was Father’s day so to celebrate we took Gary out for dinner on Saturday night. Well I guess i should say he took us out for dinner…thanks again for the yummy food! We had a great time visiting with him and getting to catch up.

The next day we headed on down to the lake to celebrate father’s day with my dad and paw-paw. We also celebrated my mom and kyle’s birthday. It was a beautiful day and so nice to get to spend time with these special people!

Big Snake Day

12 Jun

Today at the Birmingham Zoo was the Big Snake Day. I was SUPER excited about this! For those of you that do not know I really love reptiles and amphibians. Not sure why but I do. Most girls grow up loving kittens and other cute warm blooded animals but not me. I have always loved those cold blooded critters. I mean who else had an alligator at their wedding. :)

I was also excited about getting to take Bella with me while Nichole was getting ready for Tanner’s 30th surprise party. I was not sure how Bella would like all the critters but she absolutely loved it. She even pet the huge snakes! I was so proud of my little junior. She has grown up to be one cute little funny girl and I had an absolute blast going to the zoo, taking a nap, eating cupcakes, painting our nails, and shopping together!

I did not snap the pic fast enough to get her petting it…but see how many men it takes to hold it!

Feeding the Giraffe                                                                                    Watching the Komodo Dragon Feeding

After feeding the giraffe she just did not understand why she could not help feed the lions. She kept saying “But PLEASE Lauren!” I was secretly inside going “But PLEASE Mr. Zookeeper!”

Backyard Cookout

6 Jun

Today we had Eric’s family over for our first cookout in our new backyard. Eric and I had broken it in once before with pizza (of course).

We had a great time hanging out with everyone and playing with the kids. It was just really hot! We will have to put cookouts on a hold until this weather cools off a bit.

EBSCO Fishing Day

5 Jun

Today was EBSCO’s Fishing day. So we decided on heading on up there for the event. My mom and dad met us there on the way to the lake. It was fun getting to visit the corporate office and see the pretty trails and views they have. However…we did not catch one single fish!!! All the kids around us were just reeling them in but not us! But we did have a great time.
