3…2…1…Happy New Years!

31 Dec

Tonight we celebrated New Years Eve with myself, Lauren, Jonny, and Dana – we met up here at the house and then headed over to a friends party (which actually didn’t work out as we were late and they had already gone out). We watched some movies, toasted at midnight, and shot a couple fireworks before deciding to call it a night. As always it was fun hanging out just the four of us but quite bittersweet as it may be the last holiday all four of us get together for, once Jonny finishes school he may never return to Birmingham…..booo Jonny…. We hope everyone has a fantastic 2010, bye bye 2009!

Thanks so much!

30 Dec

Thank you so much to all of you special people who gave us gift cards. We are loving using them. Tonight after Bella and Taylor left Eric and I headed on out to use our cards. We went on over to Macaroni Grill for a delicious fireside dinner…Edgar’s Bakery for a Red Velvet Cupcake… Starbucks for Coffee…and finally Rave Movies for Up In the Air. It was a blast and all free! Well I guess it cost all of you :) but super fun for us! Thanks so much for thinking of us over Christmas so we could enjoy these goodies all year long!

A Nice Little Visit

30 Dec

Last week little baby Mae-Mae was sick with a high-fever and so Lauren grabbed Taylor and Bella after work for an afternoon of fun (while Nichole took the baby to the doctor), starting with some ice cream (no they didn’t bring me any home). It was raining outside but still not very cold so while I was finishing some work they took a walk around the neighborhood and had fun in the James Hill park up the street. When they got home we built a gingerbread house, after which the kids devoured all signs that there was ever a house, built of candy. After that we played Monopoly, Lincoln Logs, video games, and Bella tried on ALL her dress-up outfits for us. Baby Mae-Mae was fine, other than a nasty fever, so Nichole came and snagged the kids right as it was getting dark; we can’t wait to keep them again…..

The Birthday Week Begins!

29 Dec

Happy Birthday Week Eric! Since Eric is married to me he is so lucky to enjoy not only one day of birthday celebrations but an entire week. I love my birthday week and wanted Eric to have the best one too. We started out his birthday week by going out for dinner on Monday night with everyone. The original plan was to have a surprise party for Eric at paintball but unfortunately the weather did not corporate so Pablo’s it was. It ended up being perfect. Just about everyone got to come except Nichole and poor sick Mae Mae. The workers were so nice to us and even the owners little girl made eric a card! Can’t wait to keep celebrating all the way till Sunday…

Christmas in Cookeville

27 Dec

The next day we headed to Cookeville, TN to see some more distant relatives from my Mom’s side of the family; it’s a great little town that still has that “down home” feel that the south is famous for. After eating a huge lunch (with chicken from Captain D’s) we watched a ton of amazing pro football and went exploring a bit in the woods. Lauren loved the cabin that we used to play in as kids, which looks kind of scary these days, but is still filled with loads of fun memories. On the way home we decided to go through Chattanooga instead of Nashville and ended up getting stuck in 3+ hours of traffic. Even though it was horrible the time we got to spend together in the car was enjoyable, Lauren even found some Alligator fireworks off of one exit (we also got to see people using the bathroom on the side of the road). Overall it was a great weekend in Tennessee and we look forward to going back next year, Merry Christmas!

Christmas in Nashville

26 Dec

On December 26th we headed up to Nashville, the city I was born in, and where most of the members from my mom’s family reside. We arrived at my grandparent’s house and had some lunch before heading over to my aunt’s new house to surprise my other aunt with a wedding party. She got married in Lake Tahoe and this was our first chance to congratulate her. We enjoyed a fantastic, catered dinner before hanging out by the fire in their back yard. It was so cold outside that we ended up rushing back in to show everyone Kyler’s wedding pictures and order one epically good pizza. After that we opened gifts and spent some time just enjoying each-others company and playing video games, tired we headed home before our trip up north the next day.

Happy Birthday Steve

26 Dec

Today is a very special day because it is my brother Steve’s birthday. I am so proud to be his sister. It has been such an honor watching him become such a great man both inside and out. I am very thankful to have such a great brother.

We love you Steve and hope this next year is your best ever!

The Best Christmas Ever

25 Dec

This year we had the best Christmas ever! We decided not to get each other anything this year because we went to New York recently. So I was not expecting anything when I came downstairs but sweet Eric surprised me by rewrapping candy out of the pantry and some of Digby’s old toys so it felt like a celebration. He also double surprised me when I was looking through the stocking and found some money for lights about over island! We then sang happy birthday to Jesus and ate our birthday cake while we read the Christmas story. No gifts but Eric and I both agreed it was the most special Christmas morning ever…just goes to show what truly brings happiness is not things.

Later that morning we headed on over to Tanner and Nichole’s to see what Santa brought the kids. They were SUPER cute! Bella got a magic wand and she loved putting Eric to sleep with it (3rd picture below). Digby even had a great time hanging out with his cousin Cota. It was very hard to leave because the kids were so excited they would not let him go (bottom right picture).

We went from Tanner and Nichole’s house to my Mam-ma’s. Julie was so sweet to make our annual brunch food. She surprised us too with converting all of our old home VHS videos to DVD. So after we opened up gifts we watched home videos and it was a blast seeing videos from Christmas when we were little and of my sweet granddaddy who is getting to enjoy Christmas this year in heaven with his mom for the first time. Don’t you know they are having a blast!

We dropped of Digby at my parents for the weekend then headed on over to Gary and Susan’s for Christmas dinner. We played dirty santa for the first time this year so it spiced things up a bit. The kids like always were so funny and loved all of their presents from everyone. My favorite part of the night at was playing hide and seek with Bella and Eric. It was so crazy to see all the little space she could fit and hide. I think she could have a career at the circus fitting into boxes!

We finished up our night by going to the midnight showing of Sherlock Homes with Jonny. What a perfect day! We are so blessed to have such amazing families. Thank you all so much for bringing so much JOY into our lives. We love you tons!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOODNIGHT!

George Bush Came to Christmas and More

24 Dec

This Christmas Eve my Dad decided to be more naughty than nice. He thought it would be really funny to bring George Bush (not really sure where he found him) to our family get together and hide him in the bathroom. So when I got to my Aunt Debbie’s I ran into the bathroom when I saw our former president standing there! I screamed the most blood curdling, shrilly loud voice. I didn’t even know my vocal cords were capable of that kind of screaming. To make things worse a couple hours later I went to the bathroom again and he made me jump out of my skin again. I am telling you…you better watch your back if you are around my Dad when George is tagging along. You may just have a have a heart attack.

We also had a really good time playing ping pong, pool, and messing around in their playroom that night. Steve taught us a really cool trick. Kids… Do not try this without supervision!
You can catch hand sanitizer on fire in your hands. I was to scared to try it myself but Eric made a fiery smily face from sanitizer on the garage floor.

Once we left Debbie’s we then headed on over to Tanner and Nichole’s to be Santa’s Little Elves. To be quite honest I did not do much assembling but I am very good at putting stickers on after the toys are assembled. :)

Can’t wait until tomorrow…Happy Birthday Eve Jesus!

A Wonderful Christmas Eve

24 Dec

Christmas Eve was great! I was off work so that morning Eric and I decided to go and see Up In the Air with George Clooney. It was a great movie that made you realize the importance of family. What a perfect way to focus our Christmas experience. We ordered pizza in for lunch and had a wonderful time just hanging out us two. Right after sunset I heard sirens in the neighborhood and without thinking twice I knew what was happening and automatically jumped up screaming and ran outside to see Santa on the firetruck!

Later that night we headed on over to Aunt Debbie, Uncle Steve, Claire, and Kyle’s house to visit with my mom’s side of the family. We had so much fun visiting with everyone and playing dirty bingo! Works like dirty santa except instead of drawing numbers and names you have to win a round of bingo.

After bingo we headed on downstairs to their play room for pool and ping pong. There I saw a very cool scooter. I was just joking around and said “This is what I want Santa to bring me!” and they told me to take it! I kept saying I was just kidding but they insisted that they did not use them anymore. My dad took it home with him and shined it up for me on christmas morning. It was so cool. Thanks again for my scooter! Now if the weather would just warm up a bit so I can get some more use.
