Hometown Fair

25 Oct

Sunday was a very fun day around the block. We got up early that morning and went to early church because that  night we had our annual Hometown Fair. This year it was for residents only so it was not that crowded at all. There was unlimited rides, games, dinner, cotton candy (which I had 4) and lots of other free goodies. We had a great time hanging out on this beautiful day and playing a couple rounds of BINGO even though we never won.

The Cutest Little Pumpkin

24 Oct

Saturday was one busy day. That night we had the cutest little pumpkin come over and visit us. Ok…it was just Marjorie Ann and I dressed her up in Digby’s outfit and she was much cutier in it that him. Tanner and Nichole we having a romantic little getaway so Taylor and MaeMae were spending the night and came over to watch the game and visit. I had a great time snuggling with the little pumpkin and teaching Taylor how to play Monopoly. We actually played an entire game! I ended up going broke and Taylor won with his 10 hotels. I forgot how much I loved that game. I will have to have him back over for a rematch for sure!

More Fall Fun

24 Oct

After the contest at Petco we headed on over to Target to visit Steve on his break. I am so excited that he works so close to us. I know Eric has seen him a couple of times when he has gone to get coffee at the Starbucks in the store. Afterward, my mom met up with us and then the four of us headed on back to our house to ride the four wheeler in the woods. It was the four wheelers first time out this fall and the battery was acting up so we ended up just walking the trails behind our neighborhood. It actually worked out being more fun so we could talk and take a look at all the pretty leaves changing colors.

Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest

24 Oct

Today Kendall and I were in a pet costume contest at the new Petco on 150. We were both farmers that tended to Digby; the pumpkin, and Duke; the cow. It was really fun getting the dogs dressed up and taking them out on the town. My dad even came out to watch his two little grandsons compete. We came in third place and won a big bag of prizes. They had a professional photographer taking free pictures of you and your dogs,  tons of giveaways, and lots of other neat things for the dogs. It was a really fun and different thing to do on a Saturday. I am already planning our outfits for next year. I want to win first place now!

A fun week in the neighborhood…

22 Oct

This week was great. Work has gotten back to normal for me. So I have been getting home at reasonable hours lately thank goodness. However, this is Eric’s busy season so he has been up all hours of the night working. But I have been keeping myself busy while he has been working. Monday night was lots of fun because our “Welcome to the Neighborhood” committee got together and took 4 new neighbors some cookies. All are very sweet couples I am glad to have here. Later Monday night we had a meeting for the neighborhood directory. It is slowly but surely getting there. Who would have known it requires so much. Tuesday night we went to dinner at Tourtugas Chicago style pizza on 150. It was VERY yummy. Wednesday night Eric worked at Game Stop and I unpacked all of our winter clothes from the attic and organized. And sadly we have already outgrown all of our closet space in the new house. I mean how does this happen…When we moved we gave away lots of clothes and somehow it seems like all of our stuff multiplied. Thursday night was the neighborhood girls night out. We went to Chucks on 280 for sushi. It was nice getting to spend some time over dinner with all of them and really getting to know everyone.

Even with everything else going on this week every night Eric and I took Digby on a walk and to Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice and Vanilla Latte. The walk is a good habit but I am not so sure about this other little habit that is forming.

A Week

Concert in the Park

18 Oct

This weekend was very nice. Friday night after we saw Steve in the hospital we went and saw Couples Retreat. We both really like this movie. Although I was slightly jealous knowing Kendall was having a tropical vacation herself and I was here suffering in the very cold weather. On Saturday I woke up and went shopping with Dana. We had a great time spending the day together. We went to lunch at Sumo then headed on over to the Galleria. She ended up getting a lot of cute things for the fall. Later that night Eric and I went over to Gary and Susan’s for dinner with Kyler, Felicia, Tanner and Taylor. After dinner Taylor and I played Uno right next to the fire in the fireplace. We watched the second half of the game at Kyler and Felicia’s apartment. It was fun seeing all of her wedding gifts in use especially the new TV they got as a wedding present that day! Sunday we ended up sleeping in and hanging out at the house that morning. (I think but I honestly can’t remember what we did). Later that afternoon we met up with friends from our neighborhood small group this summer to see a concert in the park. It was a fun concert but very cold. We ended up leaving a little early to pick up Milo’s and head home to watch church online. I appreciate the changing of the seasons and the different things that comes with each but I really hate cold weather and think I should be like a snow bird and fly to the equator for the winter.

Poor Steve

16 Oct

Today Steve had to have surgery on his knee. A couple of weeks ago Steve tore his meniscus and acl in a game of flag football at the church (i think). He had the surgery this morning at Brookwood Hospital and will be getting out of the hospital sometime tomorrow. He was REALLY out of it and probably doesn’t even remember us coming. I guess it is a good think I left a card and cookies so he knows we care. Get better soon Steve!

One Down…One to Go!

16 Oct

I finally did it! After three months of putting it off I went to the DMV and got a tag for my car. For those of you who are unaware of the layoffs and closings of the satellite offices it has made the car tag process horrendous. People have been waiting 6-8 hours every day to get there tag. I refused to use basically a day off from work to just get a tag. So I held out and waited until the reopened the satellites this week. We only got pulled over a couple of times and every time the cops had grace and was understanding of the situation but with the satellites opening back up I had a feeling that they would not be so gracious anymore. I was on my way home from work and passed the Greensprings DMV at 4:50. I turned in and decided it was worth a shot. When I got in the line wasn’t nearly as bad. I only had to wait for around 2 hours! I figured the time the employees would work the fastest is Friday night so they can go home.

Now we just have to get a tag for Eric’s car…but luckily I am done waiting in lines. It is all on him now. :) I just wish our government would get with the program and let you register your car and get car tags online. I mean come on- it is 2009!

A Trip Down Montevallo Memory Lane…

13 Oct

Sunday was a great day! Jessica and I decided to take a road trip. We were originally going to go and see Jan and her new baby in Florence while Eric was out of town and Casey was studying. But Jan’s in-laws were coming into town to visit so we had a change of plans. We were still eager to get out of town so we decided to go back to where our friendship began…Montevallo. The day started with Jessica showing up at my door with a Pumpkin Spice Latte! How cool would it be to have someone deliver Starbucks to your house every morning. We then hit the road and made the trip down. It was so weird to go back down there and visit all of our old hangouts. We got to check out the new student facility that we had to pay for but never got to use. We also stopped by and went in the old house where Jessica, Jan, Damaris, Kathy, and me sometimes lived. After walking around the entire campus- in about 15 minutes mind you- we went and grabbed lunch at one of our Mexican restaurants. Later that afternoon we went shopping at the new mall in Alabaster- we did not have that while there either! It was so nice getting to catch up and spend some quality girl time without any other distractions. I love being married, working, having a house, and other things like that but sometimes I miss college and hanging out and being silly with all my friends all day. I still think that all of us girls should audition for Family Feud one day. We would be an amazing team and win for sure!

Felicia Lingerie Shower

12 Oct

Saturday night was Felicia’s Lingerie Shower. We headed on over to Natalie, Felicia’s bridesmaid, house to celebrate. We played some really funny games (which I will not go into detail here), she got a lot of cute things, and I had some VERY yummy cookies. Later that night all the girls headed out for a night on the town in a limo but I headed back to the house and caught up on some things while Eric was out of town. It is crazy to think that their wedding is less than a month away!
